Pencil, crayon, all-weather pens, and permanent markers may give different results depending on the writing tool. Test your tool on a small area first, and allow ink to dry before contact with water. Waterproof paper does not make every ink waterproof.
Shake or wipe off surface water. For standard ballpoint ink, dry the writing area before making new notes and allow the ink to set. Water-based ink can bead on coated paper or wash away, so test gel pens, fountain pens, and other water-based inks before use. Allow the notebook to dry before storing.
